Conter les moutons

“What can sheep teach us about a territory?

It's starting from this question that the framework of the Création en cours research grant and residency was created. Taking place over four months in the Hautes-Pyrénées department of France, I created workshops for the elementary school in Castelnau-Magnoac. Through making, we uncovered wool's plastic and technical potential to understand the material's social and cultural significance in society. The work with the students was an exploration of a region through the cultural importance of sheep and our connection to this animal in a contemporary context. Research was materialized through experimenting with wool and its different artisanal techniques, talks with shepherds, drawing, and writing.
